Portal to Research

Learn advanced techniques for Infosoup, our online catalog, to research topics important to you. This visit may consist of two parts. Part one; our School-Age Specialist Librarian, can visit your school to teach Infosoup techniques and introduce helpful library databases to your students. This visit lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. Part two; your classroom can visit the library to put the techniques into practice. Plan to spend at least 45-60 minutes doing research and exploring the Children's Services department. If you prefer, the entire program can be presented at the library.

This field trip meets W4.7, W5.7, W6.7 (OEU 2) Common Core Standards.

Getting library cards and/or checking out books are not a requirement to visit the library for a field trip.

Library cards may be obtained for your students if desired. This requires that completed library card applications be returned to the library at least 10 days before the visit, accompanied by a class list showing the students’ home addresses. If you choose to check out books, please add 30 minutes to the amount of time you plan to stay at the library.

All library programs are free and school-age programs are taught by a professional librarian. Classrooms consisting of more than one grade may attend the program of their choice and the program will be appropriately modified. Please ask us if you would like help combining this fieldtrip with a stop at another Appleton downtown destination.
